Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!
You need to sit down and figure out what your car goals are do you want a gas efficient speeder or ? The Chevy cobalt OK car the upgrade models are decent but the resale is poor, The Honda would be a better choice if the small car speeder is the type you want If you have the coin i would recommend the Subaru wrx sti. you can get them a little cheaper now that the hype is a bit older, around 26k to 32k And man do they fly, And if you are thinking about the new Camaro then your in the price park with the Subaru After market mods are pretty good on the Subaru and when your done your looking at a all wheel drive close to 400 hp bolt of lighting which will be on par with corvette, Porsche,Ferrari, etc.
Now if you want a sleeper, Research a Pontiac G8 not the G6 but the G8 they are shipped over from Australia where they make them. Here is a car that will get 25-27 mpg and puts out 400 hp they are not mainstream but they are bad a-- and look great
Now my car was a mid life crisis car i wanted the vette but had to settle for another SUV, but i tricked the wife and got a jeep commander with the hemi added a cold air intake a cat exhaust and power programmer, Not to much but i figure i got about 370 hp out of it I do have to admit i like to go off road so i am not to upset, but i only would recommend my ride if you don't mind 14-16 mpg averages
check out my site http://dontbeapatsy.com
it is an information site on tips for buying used or new i don't sell anything

For what it is worth, have a look at the Kia Pride.

Do you want a fun car, or just A to B? Many Hondas and Toyotas are great for reliability, and many say some of the new American cars (i.e. Malibu) are good as well. If you want something fun, maybe a Mazdaspeed3.

This is a cool site that could answer your question. They have the price and the specs of the cars, too. http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/rankings/Affordable-Small-Cars/ Congratulations and good luck with your new car.
