my transmission has a harsh 1-2 shift, but runs fine, changed fluid twice already, took down the vavle body and found some stock valves , free them up and still have harsh 1-2 shift. what else should i check. and i am trying to check things while tranny still on truck. please help

Try an intermediate band adjustment.

also when i go slow u dont really feel the harsh shift, or when i let off the gas pedal just before it shift it kinda shifts smooth but u can feel a little. i havent checked the accumilator for the bands yet and if i dont have to it would b good. trying to do all this while tranny still on truck.

Your governor might be sticking. You need to take the rear extension off (you can do this with the transmission in the truck). then you will see the governor being held on by two bolts. Take the governor off, clean it, and put it back on. The modulator could be sticking also, it's easier to take off.

there are a lot of things it could be....


you might invest in the ATSG techtran manual...  and its updates...

usually under 20 bucks... it is the same book  most of the rebuilders use...
