Hi all,
I'm in the market for a new hybrid. The MSRP is extremely inflated compared to the dealer invoice for both vehicles, probably b/c of demand. But I'm wondering if buyers are getting close to invoice, which is around $22K. Please let me know what you payed for your hybrid Prius or Civic. If you were able to negotiate a really good deal, please share how you did it.
Thanks!

The MSRP is the Manufacture suggested retail price that price is not inflated due to demand. The price adjustment above the MSRP is the inflated price due to demand. Many people were paying $5000.00 USD over MSRP when the gas price went to nearly $5.00 bucks a gallon. Now that the gas trend has slowed down and prices of gas are nearing $4.00 dollar range which is still high, people are paying roughly $1,500.00 USD over MSRP. Getting thing anything close to MSRP is out of the picture until Hybrids establish themselves in every car company, which may take up to 5 years. So if you can find a dealer to sell you a Hybrid $1000.00 USD over MSRP you got a really good deal...for now.
