Honda has known that the compressors disintigrate because of a faulty part.  I do list a web site where hundreds of posts are on it regarding the issue.  There are several more blogs that cover the issue too.  My car has already had three recalls but they never thought to send me a recall for this one.

Here is my story and it is not a pretty one....Bottom line don't buy a Honda

My ongoing issue doesn't look like it will be resolved:
8-19-08 - Brought my car to a local repair shop because the AC started blowing hot air and making noise.
8-20-08 - They called and informed me that the compressor would need to be replaced.
8-20-08 – Found information online where it is an ongoing issue with a defective part on 2003 Honda CRV vehicles. http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/honda-cr-v/TU0OKFJGV9V3F3FGL is one such place.
8-20-08 – Called Hendrick Honda and spoke with Mr. Green (Service Manager). I explained to him everything that happened and that the repair shop that I brought the car to had flushed the system and put $75.00 worth of Freon in already. He advised me that he would check with Honda but for them to cover it, I would have to bring the car to a Honda Dealership. I made an appointment to bring the car Monday night.
8-25-08 – Dropped my car off at Hendrick Honda 14201 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Woodbridge VA 22191
8-26-08 –
(7:30 am) Received a call from Maria informing me that it would cost $180.00 just to flush the system and check to see what is wrong. I told her that when I spoke to Mr. Green, I had already informed him that this had been done and I should not have to pay for it to be done again. Maria said that she would speak to Mr. Green and would call me back later.
8:30 am) Maria called to inform me that the manager said I would only be charged $75.00 for them to look at my system.
(2:30 pm) Maria called to inform me that Hendricks would replace the entire AC unit for $3400.00 and Honda would cover half. I would be responsible for $1700.00. I explained that I was quoted $1100.00 at my local repair shop. I told her not to repair it.
(3:30 pm) I called American Honda and spoke to Raymond about the situation. After several times being put on hold he said that they would have to stand by their reliable technicians and could only offer me the “deal” if I had my car repaired by Honda. He said,“You can choose to bring your car anywhere you want, that is up to you.”

My CRV is in garage now..  waiting to find out the total damage due to this AC compressor DEFECT!  My vehcile started making this awful Ticking sound in just a few hours and running rough, ( like it wanted to stall out) the ticking sounded like a diesel vehicle AND it's not.  Please to anyone that reads this..  Please Post comments & what to do..  Help..
