Good morning,

I'm new to this forum and hope someone who knows more about cars than I will be kind enough to help me. My 2001 Honda Civic LX - automatic transmission - is giving me some trouble today. I fired her up this morning (she was fine last night when I ran to the grocery) and it choked a little longer than usual then started. As soon as it started I heard a terrible vibration sound. I popped the hood and saw the engine rocking violently back and forth. I figured it would need to be towed to a mechanic so I backed it out into the street to make it easier for the tow truck to pick her up. While it was in reverse I gently pushed the gas pedal and it didn't seem to go - pushed a little harder and it finally went. It died about 5 feet later in the middle of the street - no power steering, no nothing. Battery and oil lights came on. Checked the oil, oil is fine. Finally got it pushed up against the curb, and that's where she's sitting for now. Any idea why this might be happening? I was thinking motor/engine mounts ... and hoping that it isn't engine failure! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I think the timing belt needs replacing go to this site http://repairpal.com/cars/honda/civic and put in your year make model and repair ( timing belt replacement ) zip code etc. and it will give you a idea what it should cost. Hope this helps  

Check the timing belt..there is some problem in that
used-auto-transmissions
