My wife just came back from shopping with the following story: She said that while stopped at a red light the car which is a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer with 18,000 miles started to back up. She said the car was in drive & her foot was on the break. She stopped the car by putting it in park & applying the parking break. So can a car just go into reverse on its own?
