I sure hope someone here can point me in the right direction. I have had this truck in the shop time and again and the only thing that changes is the balance in my bank account. The problem is...I can accelerate to the floor and only get up to 50 mpg. The rpms increase but the speed doesn't. It feels like there isn't any vacuum or comperession? I've had the xmission fluid changed and spent a bunch of money at a transmission shop that I have no confidence in. If any of you guys have a suggestion of what I can do to get to the bottom of this problem, I sure would appreciate your input.
This is a 4x4, automatic 3.0 gas hog and this problem adds to that poor fuel economy.

Sounds to me like the trans is slipping, how many times does it shift? You should fell 3 firm shifts.

The transmission doesn't shift properly, though I have found the primary cause of the acceleration problem..... one of the spark plug wires wasn't secured in the harness and was against the very hot exhaust on the left side, new wires installed and its much better. The transmission slippage is still a problem which nobody seems to be able to address.
