I was just wondering what kind of desire there is out there for a 215 Aluminum V8 63 Buick Special? I have one that I need to get rid of and I can't seem to find people who can use one right now. Is that normal? OR should I recycle it?

i am looking for a 215 right now. i am in massachusetts if you want to give it a home.

it is pretty normal to have a hard time finding the right people for this motor, it is a very unique group of individuals who use this motor. either way, wait awhile before you recycle it, or if you are in the area, drop me a line.

I am looking for 215 valve covers ..either stock or aftermarket but in good condition.  I've got a 1941 9N Ford Show Tractor with a 63 aluminum block Buick 215 in it and I want nicer looking covers for it.  Anybody have any they want to sell?

hmm.. i wonder how many land rover 3500CC V8 motors there are out there... that is the grandchild of the 215 buick motor...

there are several differences.. but of which parts i am not sure... i do know that there are early rover V8s with 6 bolt cranks and later ones with 8 bolt cranks...

but i would bet the intake manifolds and valve covers will fit..

there is one thing...  if you ever have a head off one of these all aluminum motors.. plan ahead and pick up a tube of Hylomar gasket dressing...  spread it on both sides of the head gasket... even the ones that say not too...  let the solvents evaporate for 15 to 20 minutes...  hylomar is a synthetic ... not a shellac   or varnish.. it never drys... never gets hard..  and is used on race engines..    one of the easy places to find is is harbor freight item 97824

with the early 60's buick and olds aluminum  heads ...  you really might want to find a really good cylinder head shop to put in hard seats... something that did not exist back then...

just thought i would put in my thoughts... having worked on both early buick motors and rover v8s.. i wish i had both at the same time to compare...    i was lucky enough to have a gmc 228 straight six in the shop and an early toyota land cruiser motor... they were also almost identical... except for the metric threads in the toyota..

I have quite a few parts I need to get rid of.  I procured these items years ago to build a kit car engine, it never happened.  I was planning to upgrade the engine with Buick 300 heads and a larger bore to use chev 265 pistons and rods.  I bought a complete Rover engine that had zero wear in the cyl, intake to pan including exhaust headers.  Complete set of Buick 300ci heads including exhaust.  Chev 265 forged rods polished on sides.  Pair of Magnesium valve covers (supposedly off of one of Mickey Thompsons engines???).  The engine is currently disasembled.

I would like to sell the whole bunch.  I will attempt to palletize but buyer must pay freight.  I will consider all offers.  Very good equipment!!!   318-447-8294 or

I am building a 4 seat mid engine mid travel XTC sand rail and have a few questions for you about running a 091 trans inverted. Have you ever done this or have you seen it done? My email is pstrack@frontier.con when would be the best time to call you to discuss this? I bought my 215 11 years ago and am just now getting around to building this car. If you prefer to call me, my number is 260-403-1638.
