Having error with my liftgate, every now and then my (Jeep GC limited 98)will randomly say liftgate is open beep for a few seconds and turn the lights on. Was only happening once and a while, now it is much more frequent, really annoying especially when trying to drive at night. Any suggestions, gate is always firmly closed, dont know what triggered this.  

i hope someone has some suggestions for you, my 98 started doing the same thing a month ago, i took it to the dealer in town and the charged me $40.00 to say that either the gate or the window latch was probably worn out, each costs 80.00 and they are unable to positively identify the problem.  it started out just as the "liftgate open" light on , then it started setting off the alarm, sometimes when its locked, and now it flashes the inside lights.... but not always.

thanks going to try that link out, my alarm goes nuts as well....very annoying at 4am...
