Hello- Ive been doing more investigating and I found information that Ford motor has been informed of the fuel pump problem, the fuel pump is what is making the engine stall. In each incident the vehicle could not be restarted and had to be towed for repairs. In one incident a police cruiser had to push the vehicle out of an intersection to a safe location to wait to be towed. There has only been 3 complaints made to the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI), of the National Highway Traffic Safety administration (NHTSA) a preliminary investigation has been opened. This is regarding all of the 2003 freelander models there were a total of 9,985 made. Please make your complaints known by visiting the sight www.nhtsa.gov. This can only help our case against Land Rover. There is a response from Ford stating that it could be poor fuel quality, fuel contamination, electric motor brush commutator, contact wear or erosion. That really means nothing to me, other than I know that my car stalled on the highway going 85 MPH & had to be towed and the fuel pump needed to be replaced. Also, there is a problem with the Engine. Land Rover does not know exactly what it is or how to fix it. My LR sat at the dealership waiting for 6 months for a REBUILT engine, my car was still under the original factory warranty LR had provided me a rental. But at the end of the 6 months and fighting with LR North America, they said it was negligence on my part I didnt have the oil changed at a "certified" LR mechanic. I was at Walter Reed Hospital & had it done on base & I had all of the paperwork proving that I had followed all of the maintenance requirements. Land Rover still refused they charged me $6,500.00 for the engine & I got stuck with the rental car bill also which was another $4000.00. I drove around for 4 months without any brake lights, because LR had Recalled the original recall on the Brake switch. I called LR to let them know that I had been pulled over because I had no brake lights, there response was "Don't drive your car!" "Well thats the only car I Have." "Well then drive safe." LR knows they made a POS car & they are washing thier hands of the whole situation. I hope that if we can get enought complaints to the NHTSA & FTC telling them how unsafe the car is, due to it stalling & losing all power, no brake lights, fuel pump going out & many other numerous mishaps maybe they will listen. DO NOT buy a FREELANDER!!! Its a money pit. If you have anything to add to this please contact me Thanks Chantell
