I have an '89 F-350 [7.3L], and my father was skeptical about what the shop technician had diagnosed in the truck.
Last Thursday, the truck overheated, and all the coolant leaked out.
Today, Monday, the shop finally called me back, and said the oil and coolant were leaking into each other through the oil cooler (this is what my father is skeptical about). He said we would have to replace all the coolant hoses, the oil cooler, and flush out the engine and radiator 4-5 times, all costing about $2,000.
Does anyone know about this truck, and about it having an oil cooler, and if this problem has occurred before to you, what happened?
Thanks a lot

Yes it does have an oil cooler it is in the 3" pipe that leads to the oil filter, In fact just had to change one on a 90 F250, because of an anti freeze leak. Yes you will have to flush every thing coolant and engine, as many times a needed.
