I have a 1977 camaro with a 350TH trans. When the trans is cold it shifts fine. When it gets up to temp, there is a problem with it. At temp 1st to 2nd shifts fine. However it won't go into 3rd. If you back off the gas it seems to coast as if in 3rd, but it has not shifted/ If at this point you shift into 2nd you do feel it hold you back, yet go back to 3rd and it does not engage. Trans oil is new and clean. Just to add this when cold it does not shift to 3rd until 40mph. Shifts are not hard but are strong. Any help would be wonderful. Bob

Hi Bob,
We have the same problem with my car. Until now I'm looking for a technician that could help me. But I read some automotive magazine and blog like Autopartswarehouse blog. It helps me know and learn some auto repair and car tips.

Problem with the 2-3 control shift vale, direct clutch seals damaged or weak,or pump/direct clutch sealing rings worn. Really sounds like soft or damaged piston seals.
