I've been in the car business for close to nine years, and one of the many car buying tips I can give you is to Stay Away from these so called liquidation sales. This is a gimmick designed to get you to the lot. Usually the dealerships I've worked for will mark down a small handful of vehicles to use as price leaders to get people in the door.
The little incentives they stuff into the mail you receive, like keys to a new car, win up to $5,000 if your number matches, and free, up to, $500 WalMart cards are a sham. The key that starts the free new car, the matching numbers and the $500 WalMart card are mailed out, so they can stay legal, but they are mailed seven states away.
I routinely write 4, 5, 6, and $7,000 deals at these sales. If you go to a sale and you see the WAS monthly payment and the NOW monthly payment on the windshield that's your first sign they are going to try to put you together.
If the salesman you are dealing with is from out of state and is in town to "help the bank" (a line they typically tell people) liquidate vehicles just for the sale, RUN for the hills.
In the mean time...
