Just purchased this truck. Right rear brakes locks up when I apply a quick steady pressure on brake pedal. I added brake fluid and check rear sensor on axle. The problem got better, but it did not go away entirely. It seems the front brakes or the rear brake try to lock up on a sudden stop. I need help correcting this problem.

contaminated shoes (leaking wheel cyl. in the right rear?) comes to mind. if the problem is intermitenet as far as which wheel locks up then the ABS system may be disabled. does the light come on for a few seconds when the key is first turned on? if it does this the system should be functioning. if no light at all (or a light that doesn't go out) then there will be a more serious issue. simple stuff first check fuses, then scan for codes.

I am having this same problem with my 1999 Ranger. Did you get your problem resolved?
