Hello - I have an issue that I hoping someone can help me out with.  I purchased a 1993 Ford F-150, 5.0 liter from a government auction.  The truck was an ex-law enforcement vehicle.  The truck had been sitting for quite sometime (I found an fuel log in the truck and the last entry was from early 2006).  I trailered the truck home and changed the oil and filter - Hooked a hot battery to it and it fired up and ran good.  The coolant was deep green and looked fine.  I checked the transmission fluid and it was pink; however it appeared to be way over filled (the fluid was a good three inches above the hot fill line).  I figured I did not get the fluid hot enough, so I decided to drive it down the road.  The truck did fine until it changed into 3rd gear.  Once it came out of 2nd the whole truck started to shake.  It made it into the gear, however started to bog down and continued to shake and jump.  It runs fine thru 1st and 2nd.  I pulled it back into the garage and checked the trans fluid again.  It was still 3 inches over the hot fill mark.  Is the shaking and jumping a symptom of overfilling?  Did I run it long enough and get it hot enough to get a proper reading?  Or is it normal to see the fluid level that high?  Also, is there an easy way to drain some fluid out - other than dropping the pan?  From the cooler maybe?  Thanks in advance for any help!

There should be a plastic plug in the bottom of the BELL housing, remove the plug and you might have to turn the motor over to find the converter drain plug, you can drain fluid from the converter.
The shaking and jumping, could it be described as "hunting" for the right gear it should be in at that speed?
Or is the TCC locking up prematurely?
