I just purchased a 2008 Ford Focus SE 4door (replaced my 97 Honda Civic).  Anyway, it's equipped with the 2.0L 4 cylinder with an Automatic transmission.   Anyway, I'm wondering about the maintanence for this vehicle, and have a few questions to ask you car experts...

First, does the '08 Focus SE have an interference engine?  Is there a timing belt (and if so, when does it need changing... I'm guessing 90-100k)?

Second:  The question about oil.  I'm wondering if using synthetic oil is good enough for a new car that it justifies the double the price of a standard oil change.    The car only has 100 miles on it and it's brand new.  Is it worth the extra money (will this possibly lead to a longer life of the engine, etc)?
(I plan to keep the car for the next 6 years or about 100k miles, at least, unless something goes wrong before then...)  

The 2008 Ford Focus engine is a chain drvie for the overhead cams.

If you only intend to put a 100,000miles on the vehicle I wouldn't worry too much about the oil.  Any good brand name oil will go that far.

You should actually be able to easily get over 200,000 miles out of the that engine with no problems.  

I have a question concerning the ford focus motor ..2008 model 2.0 .does anyone know the dry weight of this motor? I am concidering putting this motor into an experimental aircraft,..I need to know the weight ..I have the dimensions ..
