I'm looking into getting a new used car. But I'm so torn I have turned to the public. I want to get either an Audi S4 or a BMW 330ci. I have pros and cons about both, but I really am having a hard time deciding. If you have any insight on what I should do please let me know. Any pluses or minuses? Any personal experience? Thanks a lot for your help.

This is real a tough one, both are great cars and both have their strong points. I think you need to decide what you want out of the car. The bimmer will probably be a little more enjoyable in the twisties when its stock, being a little lighter and rear wheel drive. The all wheel drive S4 will be more predictable and better on wet or even snowy roads. If your looking for a car that can be easily modified for more horsepower you can't touch the S4. A chip upgrade on an S4 will take you to M3 levels of power and a tubo swap will take you to M5 levels of power, plus with the all wheel drive it is very easy to get that power to the ground. If you are looking at suspension and braking mods, you have similar choices for both cars.
If for some reason you want ot keep either car stock(I can't imagine why you would) then I think the Bimmer is probably a little nicer car, but the Audi is larger and more useable. The Audi is going to be cheaper to maintain, but not by that much. Both cars will be reliable, as long as you keep up on the maintenance. keep in mind that it is likely that either car being used has probably been driven harder than the average used car, especialy the S4. If it were me I would go with a nice S4 Wagon. lots of room, tons of potential, a little bit different from everything else on the road. I love the all wheel drive, traction all the time.
The best advice is to go and drive them, see which one you enjoy more. The S4 has so much torque it will really surprise you. But if you like the feel of the Bimmer better, go with it. Just have iether car checked out by a shop that knows these cars before you sign the paperwork.

Those are defiantly 2 nice cars and aquabat makes some good points. Although, the 2001 audi makes a ton more power then the 2001 bmw 330ci.  I would place the s4 more in the league of the M3 not the 330ci.
Given the choice between the 330ci and the s4 I would choose the s4 hands down.  Its more of a performance oriented car.

I'd defiantly go for the S4...Biturbo engine *drool*...if ur not so performance oriented...then go for the BMW 330Ci...its a nice ride..with great looks...not saything that the S4 doesnt...

My opinion is similar to that of aquabat's. If you choose power over handling, the Audi S4 is for you and vice versa. Be careful though, I would not recommend buying a used Audi S4 because it is already a problematic car and if you buy it used it can only be worse.

You think the S4 and the 330i are in the same price range?  Funny

I'm pretty sure he is basing his decision on the price of the used S4 and 330Ci. Even though those two cars are in different leagues, the resale value of those cars are quite similar after 5 years because of BMW's superior resale value.
