My HOLD indicator started blinking, result is my 626 never go up to highest gear. On another forum someone said this was an indicator for low fluid in automatic gearbox. Can anyone confirm this. I checked fluid and it was ok. Now i have HOLD blinking all the time. This summer when it first started it was only blinking for like 10 minutes. Then it stopped (I guess when the gearbox got sufficiently warm). But I had to stop the car to make the HOLD blink go away. Just stop rolling .... and then continue, made the HOLD go away. After this HOLD funktion and highest gear worked ok. Is it possible to disable HOLD thing all together ? To solve my problem. Or is it indication my box is going bad. Someone mentioned a faulty temperature sensor might be involved. Any info of this problem would make me happy.

I had the same problem with my 1995 Mazda 323 Lantis. First of all there nothing actually wrong with your transmission. The problem is actually a faulty speed sensor which sent confusing signals to the cars computer which resulted in the symptoms of the problem showing up in the transmission. Just have your mechanic fix your speed sensor and your transmission should operate fine.

Any Idea where the speed sensor is located on a 626. Would you also have a schematic? Appreciate the help, thanks Denis
