Hi all! My dad just gave me his 1995 Jeep Wrangler Sport. It is a well maintained Jeep with 215,000 miles. Only issue I have is a water leak. Water is getting in some how and has already ruined 4 radios. In one year my dad went through 12 or so windshields. (Rocks from the road seem to love the flat windshield.) Each time they replaced the windshield gaskets. I think the inside gasket is original though.
I spoke to another Jeep owner(Happens to be the one that installed all of the radios and alarm system.)and he said his 1999 Jeep had water leaks too. His leaks were coming from his rear window and his firewall. Apparently Jeeps are known for leaks from what I have heard.
Anyway..I was wondering what would be the best way for me to find this leak? I had to remove the radio because it was shorting out. When ever it rains, especially a steady heavy rain, a puddle forms on my front passengers rubber floor mat. I can feel water dripping underneath where my radio was, and both sides next to where the radio was. I sat in the passengers seat and water was dripping on my foot.
Any ideas on how to find this leak and fix it would be greatly appreciated.

I too have that problem on my 95 and have lost radios....will be replacing the cowl seal in the next week or so, also take the grill off the fresh air box between the windshield and hood and see if it's rotted out..I'm also replacing the windshield frame and windshield...hopefully the problem will be solved with these things

the rubber cowling at the bottom of the windsheild frame is probably leaking. When originally installed they used some sort of RTV to help the cowling from leaking. After years it starts to leak. I replaced the cowling but didn't put RTV over it. So it still leaked. I then put Roofing caulk (Walmart $2.99) over the cowling (both the top and the bottom ) and now there are no leaks... Also check the drain hose on the engine compartment firewall (for the vent located on the hood....)

My 92 & 94 have the same problem. Between the baterry & the engine block, on the firewall, there is a black hose that drains any rain that enters the vent between your hood & windshield. Sometimes this becomes blocked with debris & water enter the vehicle behind the dash. Unclip this tube & clean it out. Also not a bad ideal to unscrew the cover on the vent & clean out the compartment. Not saying this is your problem but its a good place to start & its quick & easy. If this is the problem, it can be avoided in the future by cutting the flattened part of the hose off. Worked for me. Good luck
