Hi, I was in an accident a month ago and the car is still being repaired. I basically hit a concrete guard rail head on, hitting the front passenger side of the vehicle, totaling $4573 in damages (not totaling the car, mind you). Just today, i called in to check on the status of the car, which I do every week. The shop proceeds to inform me that they have found another issue with the vehicle. They claim that the "electrical pack" on the transmission has died, and that because of this, there has been an oil leak from the tranny. The problem, however, is that they believe that the leak has been there for 6 months to a year and therefore is not covered by my insurance. Prior to the accident i have not had a single problem with shifting or anything else related the transmission. This is my primary car so it gets driven quite a bit. Including 5 300 mile trips during the 6 months to 1 year period. Is it possible that I could have a leak occur over such a time period that wouldn't cause any symptoms? How likely is it if this is possible?
My car is a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser that was in pristine condition. Had about 42,000 miles on it with no prior issues with the transmission.
Thank you for your time

How can they put a time on the start of your leak ? This is impossiable........... has it been regurlary serviced ? with receipts ? if so a leak would have been noted on your repair order..
