my son has a saturn ion and the wipers have come loose on the splined shafts (the wiper arms are slipping),I have looked at the holes in the wiper arms and they are somewhat worn and i will replace them but Iam wondering what else I should look for as this has been repaired once by saturn already, also any one with any step by step advice would be Great, or any information on checking out the rest of the assembly or information on linning every thing up correctly ?

If you want anything to go you are much better off having the spline on the wiper arm itself to wear smooth and not the shaft on the wiper motor itself. More money and time for the motor. Apparantly the material for the wiper arm spline is softer than usual. Or te arm is not on correctly. You have one of those "hidden" wipers where it goes down below the hood when its not running. You could try runnubg the wiper motors with the arms off and then turning them off,so they set themselves below the hood,,Then put on the arms but just above the window trim. Now run the wipers and see of they don't go past the window on the outside swing. You're trying to not have the blades hit the trim. That may give the arms a longer life. Also dont use the wipers to clean of the ice when you first start out.
