First off, just wanted to thank you guys for taking the time to read my post.
On to business, I recently purchased a 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4. At first i had no problems with it. Then we recently got snow and i found out that my truck is incredibly hard to stop in the snow. Im thinking its a problem with the ABS. When i firmly apply the breaks (not too firmly of course) the front wheels lock up only and the truck starts to skid. Also, the break pedal drops a bit lower to the floor. Ive driven in snow numerous times in other vehicles and i have no idea why this vehicle is giving me so much trouble. i dont think the back wheels are breaking at all. In addition my Brake light on my dash flickers on and off from time to time.
Sorry for the lengthy post and thanks in advance.

First of all , the 200 Ranger came with rear ABS only, or 4 wheel ABS, you have to let us know what you have.

throw a couple of hundred pounds of sand or scrap metal in the truck bed and see if it helps

Look on the inside of the front axle/hub Assembly for an exciter ring. If you don't have front ABS then the only thing you can is to make sure the back brakes are coming on, and adjusted properly. If they are the best thing to do is to add sand bags in the bed over the wheel well for more weight on the back wheels. If you do have Front and rear ABS, then there is a problem with the ABS system. With 4 wheel ABS the front wheels should not lock up.
