some cars have a safety feature to save the engine from being ruined because of no oil. There is no oil float in the oil pan. But if the engine's computer detects a low oil pressure condition supposedly caused by a lack of oil in the engine it will stall out the engine before it can be damaged. It could be set off by a lack of oil It could be caused by a faulty oil pressure sending unit. Please note that some cars can have duplicate sensor units for the same thing such as two engine temperature sensors-one for the dashboard indicator guage and another for the Engine Control module (engine control computer) The same may be true for the oil sensor/s. You could also have enough oil in the engine but i may slow in returning to the oil pan because the drip holes from the camshaft-located on the top of the engine-my be clogged.
It could also be caused by a faulty oil pump not supplying proper pressure.
These are only guesses on my part because I do not have a manual for your car. Nor did you supply much information.
