I know this is an old post, but I was wondering if you could e-mail me these instructions. I'm working on my sisters car and just found the part about the alignment tool. E-Mail Robert at tanya0974@yahoo.com. I don't suppose you know if the timing belt breaking 2.0L DOHC damages the valves or if it is a free floating type of system were when the belt breaks it don't make contact between the pistons and valves.
Thanks for any help, Robert

I need the full and right procedure to change a timing belt on a 98 Ford Escort zx2 just like you emailed to other people who have posted on here in the past. i know my post is dated much later than the other ones but I have the haynes manuel as well and that timing peg hole you can't see where it is in the picture in the manual. If you know all of the exact sockets I would need for the job including to take the other stuff off required like the drive belts, valve cover, and catalytic converter, water pump pulley, etc. I know so far i need compression gauge, camshaft alignment tool, that one timing puller piece. I called Oreilly auto parts and they said they dont carry the timing peg nor the camshaft alignment tool and told Me to go to the snap on website and they dont seem to have it either, where can I get these? I thank you for your time and info, My Email is tmkofsp@gmail.com
