Major problem guys. I'm driving down the interstate one night going about 60-70 and all of a sudden the speedometer drops down to 50. I give it gas a couple of time but nothing finally I pull over onto the shoulder and by the time I do that the car just cuts off. There were no warning lights, no bells no whistles and no smoke. a shop did all their "diagnostic test" on it and all they could tell me is the engine is locked up and would either have to get it "rebuilt" or buy a new one....Does ANYONE know what in the world happened to my car.  

ok i have owned 2 kia rios one an 00 and a 01 the 00 did the same thing as yours it is the timeing belt it broke and everything is out of wack another words your engine is screwed... so mine was still under warranty so they gave me a new car the 01 and it is or was a good car i totaled it a few weeks ago and i am looking for a different kia rio to put my engine in because the drivetrain is ok it even drove home but it was a one car accident i hydroplaned and hit not only one but two trees but if you would want to get rid of your car i am interested if it is a maunel and if it is in reasonable price range and reasonable driving range... please reply to michaelreynolds12@yahoo.com... thankyou  

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT BUY ANOTHER KIA!!!!!!!!!!!! To anyone out there who is thinking about buying a kia dont they are complete *** My girlfriend owned one and had to replace the engine cause the timeing belt went on it at 650000 and the dealer wouldnt do *** about it. they are complete crap if you are going to buy a car buy ford i myslef have owned 2 of them an 86 f250 which is still running great i have only changed a starter and altenator in it, they make great QUALITY cars unlike kia. im sorry if you want a cheap peace of *** by all means get a kia.
