I have a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8 L engine.
When I start the car for the first time during the day, the engine revs up to 3,000 to 4,000 rpms. I shut the key off quick so I don't blow the motor. The next time I start it, it goes to 1500 rpms and it takes a long time for it to idle down to 900 rpms. Why?
Could this be my trottle positioning sensor? But none of my service engine soon lights are on. When I disconnect the TPS, it makes no difference but the service engine lights do come on. So I'm assuming that this is not the problem. What can be the problem?
