My rear side window on my Volvo 240 wagon is shattered, I wake up to find this morning.  
It's the big window on the side; not the rear window/hatch.  The one that is static, not part of the door.

My insurance company says I'm on my own on this one..... looks like $1000 out of pocket, says one quote.
There's got to be another way.

PARTS--I'd like to hear from anybody who knows a cheaper source for auto glass --either Volvo or anything else.
LABOR-- is this something I can do myself, or does it require special tools, expertise, lots of time....

Any info or input or advice is much appreciated.
