I just purchased a 99 Honda CRV EX 4WD that has been working well. I knew there was an issue with the powerlocks and thought I could solve the issue since it was an intermittent problem. I tried today with the honda service manual and may have gotten myself into a mess.
Here's the problem (before I started working on it).
The powerlocks would work intermittently. There really was no rhyme or reason to when they world work. When it did work, everything was fine except for the drivers side door lock, that would be the only thing that wouldn't work when everything else did.
I opened the side panel on the front to have a look and didn't see anything out of the ordinary (I took pictures if anyone needs to see them). My suspicion was the wiring harness that may need to be replaced, but I needed to do some testing before I was sure. The service manual recommended to check the connections on the main box, so I unplugged it. It looked fine, so I plugged it back in and now nothing works at all. The keyless doesn't work, the door lock switch on the door, etc. The back hatch does work, but the button is not on the driver's side door.
So here are my questions:
Was I supposed to do something else before I removed the powerlock box?
How can I test things now that nothing works?
Back to the original problem, how can I narrow down what's going on there? Does anyone know how to test without the box and what equipment I need?
I did check a bunch of fuses and everything looks normal.
Thanks in advance!

You'll probably just need a multimeter to test for continuity and maybe some voltages. Perhaps a picture would help shed some light on what you're working with here. Good luck.
