I bought this adapter for my ipod (http://indashpc.org/new/ipod_adapters/grom-ipod-chr.html). It plugs into the CD changer port in the back of the stereo. It was working fine, then all of the sudden, the A/C stopped blowing cold air, the power windows wouldn't work, the diagnostic center just displayed dashes in every field. Some of the electric stuff still worked (sunroof, power seats). I figured it was a fuse, so I checked everyone I could think would be the problem, but they were all fine. I unplugged the adapter, but left it behind the stereo and still had problems. I finally took it out of the dashboard, then later that day all the broken electronics started working again. I have no idea what the problem is. Help!

Hey I have had the same problem with my 2004 Grand Cherokee. . . This is not an isolated problem with the GromAudio Ipod adapter. It has caused an electrical problem with my locking system. Someone please shed some light. . .

Bad news guys, I had the exact same problem. I bought the adapter, plugged it in (all acording to Grom's specs), and it worked fine for about a week. Then my key light came on then off the on then off. Eventually my windows, steering wheel radio controls, air conditioner, automatic lights, and lights flashing when I lock/unlock the doors via the FOB all died. I am a car guy and asked around nobody could figure it out. I took it to my mechanic and he couldn't figure it out so he sent me to the dealer (bad already). The dealer said that the body control module died and $1,000 repair! I did it what else was there to do. I was hoping the the Grom adapter had nothing to do with it until I found this forum. I'm not quite sure what to do now, acroding to http://www.gromaudio.com/compatibility.html it is compatable with our vehichles however it obviously isn't. I wish there was a "will damage your car disclamer".
Hope this post helps 2003 grand cherokee limited w/infinity sound

I had this same thing happen on Sunday (102 degrees here) so no A/C was a big pain. My ipod adapter has been installed for about 2 months with no issues. So until I read this post, I didn't even suspect it was the issue. I removed it and nothing happened. Today I disconnected and reconnected the battery and everything worked again. Try this before you go to the dealer. Hope this helps someone.

I have had the exact problem off and on for about a year. Key Sentry Light comes on while driving for no reason. Every now and again the AC stops blowing cold air, power windows stop working, diagnostic center shows all dashes, etc. I have tried everything short of going to the dealer. I have read many posts about the jeep electrical problems. Some say it is a short in the wiring or a loose ground in the engine compartment. This is the first post I have seen about the audio adapter. Come to think of it the problems all started within a week of installing the audio adapter last year. I usually disconnect the battery once a month to reset everything. I just pulled the adapter out of the dash today and disconnected the battery hopefully for the last time. I will sure miss the ipod adapter. Has anyone really figured out the problem here. I have had the exact issues off and on for quite awhile now. I agree ...... help!

I also had the adapter from indashpc.org that hooked up to the changer port. I had the adapter hooked up for about 7 months before my problems started. I lost all windows (but mirrors would work), interior lights when I opened every door except passenger rear, A/C, overhead console information (except compass), auto-headlamps and indicator lights for unlocking FOB (my locking function stopped working months before, but unlock continued to work) and all steering wheel stereo controls. The car ran fine and all exterior lights worked like they should when driving. Sunroof, seat heaters and dash lights worked (except fog light indicator).
I unhooked the adapter from the back of the stereo, then removed the negative terminal off the battery for about 20 minutes. I hooked up the battery, then adapter and everything worked like it should. I even regained my locking function on my FOB.
Try this trick first before you drop any cash at the mechanic.
Thanks everyone for your hints -- much appreciated.
