2000 E350 Superduty 15 passenger Ford van, V10 Triton engine. Problem is in the Suction (fat) line that runs back to the rear A/C unit. Apparently there is a pinhole leak in one of the lines beneath the coupling - they replaced 3 seals, but sniffer still picks up leaky freon. So, just guessing based on corrosion, he thinks it's the front part of the line line. This runs from the joint at about the front drivers wheel back to the rear. Part numbers are 6C2Z19867AA (FRONT LINE PORTION) AND 6C2Z19867EB (BACK HALF OF LINE). Problem is: This line (front one) is not available at any dealership in the nation, must order and have the FACTORY make it. Other problem, I'm trying to leave on vacation a week from Monday, and their estimate is 7-14 days for delivery, and this is "if" that's the correct problem.

Solution? I am having a hard time believing that there is not some way to splice this line, i.e. cut off the two ends and splice back together, weld, glue, whatever you want to call it. Right now I am looking at Plan A: Go try to get some sort of sealant (Seal All?), undo the coupling, and 'paint' the surfaces a couple of times to try and 'seal' the leak, then recouple and try to recharge in time for vacation. Plan B: Find the part at a junk yard and replace - I think I can do this as I only need to drop the gas tank and exhaust line (maybe).

Question: Any ideas out there? Anyone every heard of any sort of splicing? Custom fab? Sealant that works? Weld, solder.... or know how to get the part...faster?

Given that it is a gamble that it's the right line, or even be in in time, and that bill will be between 600, to 800 (if they guessed the wrong line), I am willing to try some other options here. Ideas anyone? I suppose the other option is go to Minnesota where I can buy the R134 and just deal with a slow leak for vacation....

Thanks,

Sterling
