Ok, so who out there has a 2007 Chevy Impala (not the SS)?? I need to know how this thing handles in the snow/winter driving. I was going to get the Ford Edge AWD but an incredible deal on the Impala got thrown into the mix yesterday ($100 difference a mth in payment w/ all interior options equal) and I have to decide ASAP if I want it. Any help is apprecited!! Thanks! Amy

An Impala is going to have a MUCH lower residual value than a Ford Edge, which is kind of a hot selling model. Plus the Impala only has Front Wheel Drive, not All Wheel drive. It will be DECENT in the snow, but not as good as the Edge with the right tires. Only $100 a month difference for an Edge? Get the Edge? You won't feel like you are driving a rental car, which is all the Impala is. I can't believe I just recommended a Ford, but it is a good effort from that company. About time.

Not sure if you've already had to make your decision, but keep in mind that getting a Chevy Impala for $100 less monthly payment does NOT mean you're getting a good deal. The Impala is an inferior car, and not because it's not an SUV. The Imapala is big and dull on the ouside, and small and dull on the inside. It's a floppy-handling, bouncy-riding, glugishly-accelerating (considering its big engine) car that has no business trying to compete with similarly sized and priced sedans. That's why you see them mostly in rental fleets, and not in the driveways of discriminating buyers who value quality. The Edge, though still flawed, is a far better car, and a rather impressive achievement for Ford--no doubt due to the fact that it's based on suspension bits from the Mazda 6 and CX-7 chassis. If you can't afford the Edge, the look elsewhere, of course. But if you're under the impression that picking up an Impala for significantly cheaper is somehow a "steal," then you're mistaken.
