i have a 1985 carb'd honda crx 5 speed manual, the temp gauge seems to be going to hot even though the radiator does not heat up ive changed the thermostat, the cap, the fan turns on and used a digital laser temp gauge gun and the radiator reads at about 130 degrees. any suggestions? could be the gauge is not reading properly?

Remove the heater hoses and place one hose in a bucket of water with the hose running and the other in a catch can for the environment and check your waterpump flow. Yes its possible the gauge is faulty or the thermostat is installed backward or faulty. Its also possible the radiator is plugged.
