1997 Nissan Altima Stalling

I have a 1997 Altima that began stalling out of the blue. It has a new fuel pump and distributor. I tuned it up about 3 months ago - plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter, air filter and a oil filter and oil change. It has about 95,000 miles on it.

It doesn't stall while sitting at a stop, it seems to occur only when the car is moving. When it begins to stall, putting it into neutral and giving it gas in an attempt to keep it running doesn't work - it stalls no matter. It won't start up again for several minutes. But then it starts and runs fine for a while - it can be 10 minutes or an hour before the same thing occurs again. Only one time did the check engine light did come on - this was during a particularly energetic attempt to keep it running by pumping the accelerator. I put my code scanner on it and it indicated that the anti-knock sensor had caused the error. This is an intermittent problem - it doesn't occur every time I drive it.

Any suggestions?

I had the same exact problem with my 92 Tempo. I dont know if this will help, but I fixed the problem for 13 bucks! It was the ignition pick-up module. I dont know where it would be or what it looks like on the Altima, but on the Tempo it was kinda "horse shoe looking" and it was located inside the distributer on the bottom of it.

Hi
I am having the similar problems with my Altima, some people say its due to the fuel pump relay. Did you change your fuel pump relay ? did it make a difference? if not how did you fix the problem?
