I bought a this car from a kid at work for 500 dollars because he couldnt get it to charge, so i looked at it and he had the wrong belt on the alternator, it was too small and was slipping, so i bought the new belt and it ran fine for a while. Now after running it for a while and starting and stopping it a few times, i get major hesitation and it has died a few times, when u get in it to start it again it will crank forever but it wont start, if you wait a hour or so and try to start it, it will start fine. I also have a older geo tracker that im trying to sell, but cant until i can fix this so any help would be greatly apprectiated, thnx.

Hmm, well I can't really tell you how to fix the car. But I have a 1995 Merc Tracer, and I get the same problem. Sometimes the car will just turn over, and over without starting. When it does this all I have to do is turn the ignition to start, and then quickly (after it turns over about once) turn it off. Then when I turn the ignition to start the second time it will fire right up. My car also wants to die sometimes when I come to a stop. I have discovered that this COULD BE the TP Censor. It will also make the car idle up and down while in park. But I did find a quick fix. There is an adjustment screw on top of the engine right next to the throtal cable. If you adjust this VERY slowly while the car is running and in park. You can get the car to idle at an even rate. This prevented my car from dying when I came to a stop. If the screw is loose and slowly working it's way out, you can buy another one really cheap. You can try this anyway. It's really simple and really cheap. If it doesn't work, then you can try the TP censor.
