I just replaced my key lock cylinder. I am now installing all the internal steering wheel parts. I am tyring to depress the Steering Wheel Lock plate to insert the locking clip with the Lock plate removal/installer tool you need, but for some resons the telesocpic column is not locked down, I can pull it out. When I try to depress the lock plate, the column moves with the tighting of the tool. Should the column be locked at a certain position or is there another tool I should use?

It has a telescoping steering column.

Can't help you with specific info, sorry. I assume you have a reference manual. My only relevant comment. *** that was one cool old car.
