RE: Audi A4 CVT gear box issues
I own a 02 A4 1.8 CVT transmission and has had problems since the summer of 06. I dont know what they would do to temporarily fix the problem, but, it has re-appeared again after we crossed the warranty mark. They have quoted me $2600 to rebuild the valves or $6200 to replace the transmission. I am going to hold Audi's feet to the fire and demand they fix the problem and split the cost with the dealer. Call this number to speak to a CS rep at Audi: 800.822.2834 and hit option 3 to speak to a rep. As a FYI, Audi is actually aware of this problem specifically happening in the Southeast. They are thinking it is becuase of the moisture. This is specific with the CVT.
I hope this helps...I need help myself...

If you want a good selection id try a parts locator. One place that can find you a good short or long block for a Audi A4 engine is TEXAS Junkyards, Junk Yards in TEXAS TX salvage recycler. They have a link somehow to multiples of thousands of recycling centers and will locate the best one for you.

RE; Audi A4 A6 01J CVT transmissions.
I did read all this problems and it looks there is nobody there what knows wath is wrong with it. I am specialized in repairing CVT transmissions and have repaired several of the Audi CVT transmissions. Here in Nz it cost around NZ$ 6000,- including Removal and Fitting and we warranted it for 18 months or 30.000km. The only thing you have to do is upgrade the Forward Clutch to seven frictions and modify the piston etc. After this you change some sensors and clean out the hydraulic control unit. You refit the transmission and Top it up with the right CVT oil and carry out the Software upgrade and the adaptation procedure. And till now I have never to do one for warranty. So look at our website. www.cvt.co.nz.
I hope this will help you.

I have the same problem (JEARKING PROBLEMS)on my 2006 A6 CVT. I almost rear-ended other cars a few times because of the damn jearkng problems...I am so sick of the problem.
I had other problems, which the dealer replaced the front calipers because they were still engaging without stepping on the brakes at low speed (Loud front noise, which the dealer said it was metal to metal noise). The problems dis-appeared for 2-3weeks after they replaced the front calipers. I am so sick and tired of taking this car to the dealer. It seems like this car spends more time at the dealers shop...
I called the dealer again today, and they said they will have an Audi representative meet with me to discuss about these problems.

shairi I have a 2003 A4 with a CVT transmission and am now having the jerking problem with the CVT transmission. It occurs on slow to normal acceleration. Out of warrant of course -the dealer says it is a $10,000 cost but they will split it with me. So, for $5000 I have a car that was defective and now only worth $20,000. Have you had any luck getting Audi to fix it at there cost?
