I cannot get my car in gear. This car is an automatic. I'll try to describe my situation as best possible...

The Breakdown: This happened after pulling out of a gas station and putting the car into reverse. The car transaxle was slipping half the time and the car was lunging back once in a while. I made it 20 feet backwards. When I put it into Drive again it was slipping 3/4 of the time and managed to lunge 10 feet forwards. After that the car wouldn't go anywhere anymore. At no time did i hear any gear grinding sounds.

Here is what I have checked:
- The transaxle fluid level is ok and it is a nice bright red
- The shift cable tightness was checked and the car only starts in Park and in Neutral.
- The only engine trouble code I get is Code 15: A problem with the vehicle distance/speed signal. No distance/speed sensor detected during load conditions. Would this cause the transaxle to not work at all?
- I also find it odd that sometimes when i put it into drive or reverse when started it will sometimes go an inch forward. Even forward for reverse.

Thanks for any help!

Have the filter changed ...
If this works it may buy you some time till a full repair is  warranted,
The filter getting blocked is a common problem  and will happen without notice , and it will  cause all the above problems ...
the code will NOT cause it not to move .
