Manufacture Date of Tire Missing

I just had my front left tire replaced because of a nail.

The replacement is a new Cooper Mastercraft A/S IV.

I was looking at the DOT number today to see when it was manufactured and noticed there is no date of manufacture in the DOT?

I thought it was the law to have this date on the sidewall.  Why would it not be there?

Check the other side of the tire.

It is now common for the serial to appear on both sidewalls, except for the date - in anticipation of a new law that requires the date code to be on the side intended out.
