Our VW polo wouldn't start today, (Y reg 1.4 match) light on the dash but just dead when we turned the key. We initially had this problem when we bought it about 3 and a half years ago and the dealer just replaced the starter motor. After 10 minutes tried the car again and everything was as nornal.

Was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem, how long are starter motors supposed to last?

Just spent £250.00 on it on a major service and new brake pads discs etc so loathe to go back to the garage!

I just don't feel I can trust it anymore and it's bound to break down just when I need it most!
