I just put a nice Summit alum. pan (+3 qt.) and a temp sensor under my tranny and I'm wondering what a good baseline temp would be.

The cooler the better !!!
150 to 175 is nice
But 175 to 225 is where you may find it
It will live just fine with that temp !

OK now the rest of the story-

This is my third tranny in two years- both swapped in reman. units under warr.
Heat damaged both-dealer gave no explanation of cause.
I had to know, so I installed the pan, gauge, and a 30K HD cooler up front in place of the little stock unit. I also by-passed radiator.
I've been running 250+ putting around town in 35-40 degree temps.,40-45 mph. I think I may have computer issues.
