My parents own a 2004 Toyota Avalon XLS. They had is for 4 months and the car's engine started racing while they were sitting at a traffic light. The car tried to take off, my father had to put the car in natural and turn the car off for it to stop. This has happened several times since then. The check engine light did not come on. Dealer could not find anything wrong with this. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know anything about this? Please let me know.  

I just bought a 2004 tacoma about 4 days ago. It was working fine until yesterday, when I was stopped at a traffic light, and the same thing happened to me.  While stopped, with my foot on the brake, the rear wheels started spinning, I had to hit the brakes harder to keep from moving forward.  I then put the car in neutral, and the engine started racing.  I then turned the engine off, restarted it, and haven't had a problem since, but I'm scared to drive it.  I was searching, trying to see if anyone else had the problem, and what a possible solution was.
