Have a 92 Caprice with the 5.7. The problem I'm having is that it won't shift from 1st until the rpm is around 32-3500. It skips second, no over drive and no reverse. Fluid level is good, not sure when the fluid was changed, has over 200,000 not sure if it's been rebuilt or not. Bought the car 2 years ago. Any suggestions will help.How difficulte will it be to rebuild myself? I'm a mech in the Marines so I do know how to get around a car.Thanks,Gary
First of all Thanks for your service to our country.I checked a service manual I have and the only thing i see is that the 2-3 shift valve could be stuck.That could cause no Reverse no 2nd and no 4th.As for building the tranny yourself ,get yourself a service manual and go for it. It's not that difficult.I would suggest a bushing kit with that many miles.
