Hello I live in the state of Washington and would like to get a license to be a used auto dealer. I would like to go to the auto dealers auctions in Nevada and California and buy one or two cars at a time for resell. To be an auto dealer in Washington state, the laws require you to have a building that is commercially zoned. You must must also have regular hours of business and a lot to resell the cars you buy at the auction. I just want to start out small and be able to resell the cars I buy at the auction from my home until I get enough money to go full time and have a car lot with a building. Can someone please show me if there is a easier way? 1. What state is the least restrictive state to get a dealers license? 2. If I get a auto dealers license in another state from my residence, can I go to the auto dealers auctions in Nevada and California to buy cars and then sell them in my state of Washington? Thank You

Hello Mr Massey...I was wondering if you could explain why a person cannot be an agent for a dealership from another state. I saw an ad on the internet about signing up under a dealership as one of their buyers and working under their license for different fees depending on whether or not you wanted a dealers plate. A person could then go to the dealer's auctions, buy and sell to other dealers and sell to the public. If this is not legal, how is it being done I wonder? I know of many dealers who are licensed in their home state, but conduct business out of state. Is their a difference? Any feedback would be very much appreciated. Thankyou.

My car is on its last leg. Last time I bought at an auction, but now it is owned by Manheim and is dealer only. I only want to buy cars for myself and friends. I looked at obtaining a dealer's license, but they want to see your lot. I am not paying for a lot or garage to buy a few cars here and there. I saw the option for a Wholesalers license, but it says you can only sell to a dealer. Would I be able to sell to myself? Being my wife is from another country I was even thinking about looking into what it took to get a license there and use it to try and get into the dealer only auction. I can not belive it is this difficult. I live in MD. And suggestions would be appreciated. I would even be willing to pay someone with a license to take me to the auction and charge me a reasonable fee. bilskro@gmail.com

Hi, I am looking for someone to let me use their dealer license to purchase 4 vehicles per month. I will pay $2000 per month. A wholesale dealer license is also fine because I will not be selling this vehicles directly to the general public. If interested please send me an email at autogroup2008@gmail.com Thanks!

usautobargains: Hello Itstrue526,

I have had a dealers license in the state of Michigan for about 10 years now, and what I do for a few people is I allow them to buy and sell cars through my license, but I charge them a $400 buyers/sellers fee.

In our state this is completly legal and it works out very well for all involved. This is something that you might be able to look into in your own state.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Trevor
