I have a 2005 F-150 with the 5.4L Triton engine. The transmission has been a problem: it downshifts at low speeds when it shouldn't (truck shudders) and the upshifting is often somewhat jerky. Dealership is unable to fix the problem - they did mention some kind of Ford report stating that there was this sort of problem with the trucks. Any info/help out there?

I have a 2005 F150 with a 5.4L triton engine also. The truck doesn't like to drive between 45 and 60 mph. Everything is fine as long as you are accelerating up through these speeds to around 70 but if you drop back and try to drive at any of these lower speeds (especially around 50) the truck acts as if it is in too high a gear - it's sluggish with buzzing and vibration that increases as you slowly apply the throttle. It seems to drop out of overdrive around 40 and everything is fine then.

I noticed that you guys have a problem with your F150 trucks and a vibration. I have also fell into the trap of the vibration when I purchased my 2005 F150 and received every lie they can dish out. I am just out to get my money back, nothing more, nothing less. I have posted my story all over and wanted to try and bring people together.
I live in south east Michigan and a reported at the local NBC station took notice to the story. As we all know each story has two sides and I'm sure a lot of our cases sound the same. Could you guys pass your story along to Mr. Guy Gordon at WDIV in Detroit.

Good luck everyone and I hope everything turns out for the best.

Hi, Jim,
I also have a vibration problem with my 2005 F150. I have also been lied to. The dealership also dished out lies and also the service department. The truck was practically taken apart and rebuilt with the same result....vibration, especially around 50-60 mph with steering wheel shudder. After refusing the solution they offered, I have no recourse but to pursue satisfaction through the lemon law here. I reside in northwest Florida.
Would like to hear from anyone else that has experienced this problem and the terrible customer service at Ford. I expected more from Ford...this is disappointing, to say the least.

Bring it to the dealer and dont take it back till it is fixed. Ford had a ton of problems with the "new Body F-150" it was to the point where they had dozens of trucks that the transmissions were blowing apart when backing off of the delivery trucks at the dealers. What a quality truck ford has built again!!!! kind of like the 4.2 v-6 in the old f-150 and e-150 where you have to rebuild the top end every 60k miles

My 2004 witht the triton 5.4 is a pos. The tranny bangs wheneveryou are cruising along and get off the gas just a bit then resume slight acceleration. Going through a city, it will drive you crazy as it bangs everyting you pick up speed after letting off.
Also, has anyone had problems with rear suspension banging when the truck shifts weight for any reason?

I have a 2004 F150 with the 5.4 also. i got the truck used with 22000 miles from the start i thought there was somethin weird about the way this truck shifts. Its so sluggish its not even funny shifts real fast from 1st to 2nd if you got your foot on the gas its ok you let off and it goes to overdrive and gets real sluggish always seems to be in one gear higher then it should be,took it to dealer the reflashed the transmission computer and still does it. Its really annoying. thought about getting a programer to adjust the shift points does anyone know if that works? the dealer also told me its normal if it is man Ford really screwed up and needs to fix it.
