My 84 Pontiac Parisienne station wagon will start up but the motor will not gain power when you step on the accelerator when it is in gear. When you start it up it will shudder and shake almost dying until it sufficiently warms up. After warming up it will not idle so rough and seems to idle somewhat normally. After placing in gear and taking off the motor sounds fine but when the accelerator is pressed the rpms never rise......it just won't kick in...won't rev.
HELP!!!!!

You have either a sensor failed or a clogged cat converter on this vehicle. You can disconnect the exhaust pipe at the manifold and see if that helps. If it does then your converter is plugged.
