A: No one.

Why not?  Another report stated that ONE PERCENT of Americans even knows Mitsubishi makes cars, or considers Mitsubishi in a purchase decision (I think it was the first).  And the other statistic is that Mitsubishi's the only automaker on that continent that's unprofitable.  What gives?

Can't be the advertising...  Doesn't a commercial asking "Are you in?" just tempt you into rushing out to buy a Lancer?  Look at them sexy lines.  This car is nothing if not...  IN.

Can't be the cars...  having no horsepower builds character and driving skill, and no real man would whine about little pieces falling off the body.  Why don't you guys all wake up and drive?

06 eclipse is supposed to be quite impressive. Not as cool as the concept but a step up from this 5 year excuse for a model that they've been putting out.

It doesn't suprise me that they're not profitable.  They practically beg people to buy them, given the huge incentives they offer (e.g., 0 down, 0% financing, no payments for 5 years, etc.).  You're upside-down on the car the minute you buy it because it has 0 resale/trade-in value, and you're never out of that hole until you pay it off. At that point you can sell it for scrap.

Another traditional SUV bites the dust:

Montero Dismounts in 2006

Gagnon's isn't the only Mitsubishi-related departure to be announced on Monday. Automotive News also confirms that the Mitsu Montero seven-passenger SUV will be dropped from the company's lineup after the 2006 model year. Rich Gilligan, CEO of the company's American sales arm, says the volume of sales couldn't sustain the development costs for a new one. Mitsubishi is expected to get a new, more powerful Outlander with seven-passenger seating and a 250-hp V-6 in 2007. Mitsu also sells the Endeavor crossover, which is based on Galant running gear.

My first major vehicle was a used Mitsubishi Mighty Max. Years later I looked into the Galant. Found it roomy and powerful but I, who's notorious about not noticing details, spotted the fit and finish prob.

I've noticed a lot of racers, though, like the Evo's.
