Hi, What's wrong with the HEAT in 97 FORD VAN? Turned from AC to HEAT & no HEAT. Immediately switched to back & forth between hot & cold...sometimes it heats, so if cold weather is here, don't like to switch back to AC...afraid it won't heat again when COLD Outside!! Sounds stupid, but probably not the only one. Someone looked at it, said it was probably the switch. What is it?? Please, need list of possible causes...my son will, hopefully, fix the HEAT in my van. Appreciate everyone's input.

Hi again, Hoping a mechanic tech could give me some idea why the Heat is not working. More importantly, to learn if it can be fixed at home, rather than take into a Shop. Guess it's really a mystery. Appreciate any answers. Thanks

Hey! Had a 99 Ford Windstar that did the same thing. we ended up having to take it to a mechanic and have the enitre heating system replaced - cost about $250. Sorry to give such bad news. It sounds like the same thing though.

You could have a vaccum problem not letting the blend door open up.

I wish I knew. I have the same problem with my 95 Aerostar. I get very little heat if any. I have replaced everything, radiator, heater core, thermostat, fan clutch. I think what may be happening is that there is too much cold fresh air being taken in.

just to let you know that most of your vehicles control knobs for changing from heat to cold etc. have a vaccum switch behind them like when you turn on a gas stove. you turn it to a certain spot to get more or less flamesame as this switch if that vacuum switch get any gap between the individual ports it wont get a good seal and will prevent it from doing it job.. if you need more info write me spiked2u@aol.com
