Hi there

I am a previous car owner who is seriously considering buying a small SUV such as a Mitsubishi Outlander or Honda CR-V. My main hesitation is the environmentally un-friendly reputation of SUV's. A friend of mine advised me that if the SUV has a small engine (the one I'm looking at is a 4 cylinder/2.4 liter), then it is virtually the same as driving a car, and that makes perfect sense to me. Another friend told me she shied away from buying one because she claims SUV's are unregulated, and therefore even buying a small one is saying "that is ok." (it being unregulated). I really am in need of some unemotional advice in order to make my decision. Help?
