New Brakes - New Tires????

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry Solara with 46,000 miles.

I just had the front brakes replaced and the rear ones turned.  They said I need new tires on the front.

I need some that are inexpensive but dependable.  Should I get 4 tires, or would just buying two be ok?  From my research, Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred are highly rated, does anyone know about these?

Also, is there anything I should have done to prevent the front tires from wearing out so quickly?

Thanks

You should rotate the tires every 5000 miles or so to allow for even wear.  As long as you still have good tread left on the fronts, you should be able to just do the tire rotation now.  The JUST TIRES location near me did my tire rotation for free even though I didn't buy the tires from them.  Not sure if they do that every where, but it's worth asking.

Thank you.  I thought I done my homework and decided on a Goodyear 205/65/15, but they suggested I get high performance tires somewhere it states the car should have 92-H.  Could you explain this to me and if I really need them.

Thanks

You should always buy a tire equal to, or better than what the factory installed. If they are recomending a tire with a 92 load rating and an H speed rating, i would guess that is what the factory recomended. The 92 is a load rating that approximates the tires load carrying ablility, doesn't necessarily apply to anything you could test in the real world, you just have to trust the tire engineers on this one. The h means the tire is rated at speeds up to 130mph. Lots of people think, well I'm never going to do 130 so what difference does it make? A tire rated at higher speeds is also meant to handle higher side loading and higher temperatures, again trust the engineers. I always by a better tire than what the vehicle came with. Your car has four palmed sized patches connecting it to the road, they make your car stop, go and turn. I can't over emphasize how important tires are.
