The mustangs were never meant to compete with corvettes. Thats what the ford GT was built to do. The ford mustangs were meant to compete with the camaros and i dont recall chevy ever creating a 450hp camaro so id say ford is doing alright. As far as which is the best bang for the buck? Evo by far. It handles better than a corvette z06 by a hair and its also half the price. And i think 0-60 in 4.5 seconds is nothing to look down upon considering its pumping that much power out of a 4 cylinder 4 door.

There are so many answers to this question and so many variables. For the money I would Have to agree the z06 is definatly a top pick for overall performance. If I wanted a car that handles great I would have to go with the Elise. If I want a reliable, practical coupe I would more then likely go the route of the rsx or celica. etc. etc. There are so many choices. It great to actually sit there and think about "what if", I know when I do , my mind changes alot when it comes to the cars I would take.
I think the thread starter could have been a little more specific as to what he/she was interested in and what price range they were going for.

Its depends on how much money you are willing to spend and what you want to do with the after, arket parts?

honestly, all these guys seem to know what they're talkin about. but i've seen show after show and read mag after mag about an evo beaten out a vette on any track or road course with no problem and you really cant go wrong with a turbocharged can of whoop *** thats cheaper than a vette and set up ready to take on anything you race against and be even better with a few extra HP bolt-ons!

I would have to agree that the Corvette Z06 is the best all around sports coupe (and also the best looking!).

The question was, what's the best all around sport coupe. Not the fastest or the most exotic. My vote: the 2002 or 2003 Acura CLS. The perfect size and a true 4 seater. Great styling, most recently copied by the Audi A5/S5. As fast as a street legal car needs to be. And priced right. And they just keep going. My 2002 runs like it was new. Never had a maintenance issue. 22 mpg.A real shame Acura stopped making them apparently because of in house competition for the Accord Coupe, which is a clear rung ot two down the ladder. Repeat after me, "Acura, bring back the CLS!!"
